How to Check if a Website Is Using a Pixel to Track You

Option 1: Use the Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome Extension)

• Install the Meta Pixel Helper from the Chrome Web Store.
• Visit the website you suspect has a pixel.
• Click the Pixel Helper icon in your browser bar.
  • You’ll see:
  • If a pixel is installed
• What events it’s tracking (like PageView, Lead, Purchase, etc.)
• If there are any errors or issues with the setup

Option 2: View Page Source

• On any webpage, right-click and select “View Page Source.”
• Use Ctrl+F (or Command+F on Mac) and search for:
  • fbq( or facebook.com/tr
• If those show up, the site is likely using the Meta Pixel.

Option 3: Check with Privacy Tools

Use browser tools or extensions like:

• uBlock Origin
• Privacy Badger
• Ghostery

These will alert you to tracking scripts (like Facebook Pixel) and let you block them.

Pro Tip

If you want to avoid tracking altogether:

• Use incognito mode

• Turn on browser tracking protection

• Consider a privacy-focused browser like Brave
